Test description / objective

This test aims to validate the effectiveness of color contrast adjustments made for individuals with color vision deficiency. It ensures that the color enhancements in the user interface accommodate users with various types of color blindness, improving their ability to perceive content.

Test pre-state

  • Ensure that the application UI includes a variety of colors used in different UI elements.

Test steps

Step No. Step Description Expected Result
1 Navigate to different sections of the application interface The application interface displays various sections with UI elements requiring color differentiation for conveying information.
2 Identify UI elements that rely on color differentiation for conveying information, such as graphs, charts, or status indicators Graphs, charts, status indicators, and other UI elements requiring color differentiation are identified
3 Simulate different types of color vision deficiencies, such as red-green deficiency or blue-yellow deficiency, using appropriate tools or filters Different types of color vision deficiencies are simulated using appropriate tools
4 Assess the visibility and clarity of UI elements under simulated color blindness conditions UI elements remain visible and clear, even under simulated color blindness conditions, ensuring usability for users with color vision deficiencies

To be taken into account during test

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of color contrast adjustments

Test result (Pass/Fail Criteria)

  • PASS condition:

    • If the color contrast adjustments effectively enhance the visibility and distinguishability of UI elements for users with color blindness, the test is considered to have passed.
  • FAIL condition:

    • If the color enhancements fail to improve the visibility or distinguishability of UI elements under simulated color blindness conditions, the test is considered to have failed.
